Five people, five different musical backgrounds, five ideas, one vision... inhale. Mix of Cuban-style percussion, heavy guitars, machine gun precision drums, weird expressive vocals. Imagine all of those doing every sound on Earth and beyond and you get an idea what Inhale The Ellipses is like... unlimited, unfiltered, original.

Heavy, mellow, sick, danceable, introspective music with lots of percussion.

Inhale The Ellipses started in July 2001 in a hot sweatbox in Marshalltown. Now, they practice in a hot sweatbox in Des Moines. Everything that happened in between will take hours to tell. We love playing live, we live for creating awesome music and thats good enough. Inhale...

Inhale The Ellipses is a band born out of central Iowa with a purpose to create interesting music that demands the listeners' attention. The music, as well as its incomparable live show soothes, disorients, uplifts, and ravages the listener. To make a long story short, the band were bored with homogenized and rehashed music. So, the members created a combination of Cuban, African drum sounds, insane guitar playing, harsh noise, free jazz, diverse vocals, and every sound, and dynamic in between. So much diversity, and complexity, it is hard to describe the sound. The sound is their very own. Robert Land: lead vocals, percussion Dustin Leggit: guitars, b. vocals, percussion Forrest Lonefight: guitars, b. vocals, percussion Josh Laville: bass guitar, percussion Dylan Wanatee: drums The latest audio capture, "The Skizoclick Sessions", is the third and final installment of underground media recording studies. It features 9 tracks of raw, warts- and- all performances of Inhale the Ellipses songs written from the band's birth to the present. Witness a live Inhale the Ellipses show near you.

The first release was a 3-song demo called 'Stuber Demo' (aka 'Stuber Sessions'), which was recorded by Rick Stuber (ex-NOTHING) in his basement studio.

The second release was 'The Sweetleaf Demo' (aka 'Sweetleaf Sessions'), which was recorded by Sweetleaf Records Larry. The band and Larry had a contractual and business falling-out and didn't release it on his label, so they sold it themselves at shows.

The 'final' release, 'The Final Album' (2019), was never officially released when they were a functioning band. They finished mixing it after their last gig. Forrest had the means to release that album in January 2019 through DistroKid. The band did, however, release a rough mix of the song 'In The Vein Of The Golden Calf' on a sampler they handed out at shows.

There's an unreleased album that, at time of writing (08/2026), Forrest was mixing and is just about complete. Forrest says: "I was able to salvage it with stems extracted by Moises AI.". Tentatively-titled 'The Lost Album', Forrest says it's to be the final project under Inhale The Ellipses as they disintegrated in 2005. Forrest went on to form '...And God Blessed Ignorance' with Dustin and Josh, and also 'Eyes Of The Spiral' with Josh.

When I asked Forrest if the song titled 'Kyle From Dirtnapp' was a homage to Kyle Worsfold, the vocalist from Des Moines/Marshalltown death metal band Dirtnapp, he said: "Yes. Kyle Worsfold. We were very close with Dirtnapp. Song names in those days were inside jokes. That was our most popular song."

Forrest has written a novel, called 'Life Belongs To The Loud', which is an autofictionalized biography of Inhale The Ellipses with the main band as Bastards & Thieves in the book.

Author's note: According to one of my contributors, one of the last mentions of the band NOTHING online dates to May 2001, so ITE formed just two months after in July 2001. It could be wondered if any of those songs were going to be on NOTHING's full-length but were reworked.
