COMMENTS
Absent was formerly known as Krete.
The band didn't last long, only about a year. When Ryan Berrier joined Destrophy was when Absent pretty much died.
Welcome to the insane world of ABSENT! Prepare yourself for the sonic assault that you are about to receive. Nestled somewhere between the corn fields and graveyards, these Iowa natives have energy equal only to an atomic blast. The mayhem that is now ABSENT formed more than three years ago under the name Krete in Southern Iowa. They released their first disc, 'Imagination Of Reality', in the spring of 1999. In the months to follow, they played many regional shows, tearing them all to the bare bones. All of their future fans soon saw the power they harnessed. After a year of destroying area venues, ABSENT released 'Krete 327'. This 5-song E.P. brought a more solid fan base and radio play from the state's largest station, Lazer 103.3 of Des Moines, along with other stations. Playing songs like 'Nothing' and 'No More', ABSENT was sure to become a success in the mainstream market. Trailing from the popularity of this album, which has sold more than 2000 copies to date, they toured all parts of the Midwest. In their wake, they have made sure that no one would forget who they are or what they are about. With Ryan Berrier on vocals, words are not only heard, they are felt in the deepest parts of the soul. The team of sonic guitar energy presented by Aaron Bailey and Marc Roe are enough to tear down walls. The bottom end that bassist Bob Thomason puts out is powerful enough to crush skulls. Finally, Josh Baker hones this musical axe with mind drilling beats and steady grooves. This is ABSENT, no less. For those of you who think that you are brave enough to handle the attack, buckle your seat belt, 'cause you're going for a ride.
