ABOUT
Note that this page has really become somewhat of a catch-all for miscellaneous things about the site that I wanted to share, and for anyone curious to learn a bit more about me and the workings of the site itself.
Introduction
What can I say? I first created this website as a bit of a sanity project, somewhere to share cohesive information on the many Slipknot side-projects and ex-bands that I had been gathering info on from pretty much just months after discovering the band back in July of '99. Long story short, very short, is that one thing led to another and I found myself deeply interested in other bands from Des Moines, Iowa, and later Iowa as a whole. Before I knew it, I was diving into bands that weren't even connected to Slipknot in any way, except for the fact they were from Iowa. One of my specialties has always been finding obscure connections between bands/musicians, which I have documented on this site to an extent never before seen.

Site Author
I had amassed a bunch of information that I had been putting together in my own, personal, offline archives. At some point I decided to put all this info that was up until now kept private, into a website for the world to see. Curiosities, favors, and promises later, a whole roster of bands and musicians had been added to the site which was far beyond the scope of its initial purpose. You can even find the odd handful of all-but-forgotten UK bands sprinkled in now as well. To say the site has become a beast, a machine, at times an obsession, is putting it lightly.
Site Name
There are really three reasons for deciding on the name of this website. 1) because I couldn't think of a name that I liked that suited the site, so is in the same vein as 'no name'. 2) because 'The Nameless' is the name of a Slipknot song. 3) because it serves as a tribute to all the underground bands/projects that would have otherwise become forgotten, or 'nameless'.
Site Inspiration
There's a million ways to organize a website, but the one which always grabbed my attention and what this site is basically based off, is the old 'FreeNet Records' site (click here for link)... specifically the band index page known as the 'FreeNet Records Music Complex' (click here for direct link).

Site Sources
Every now and then someone will get in touch asking where I got a very specific piece of info from. Look, at time of writing, this site has been over 10 years in the making (using over 20 years of documentation) and currently has over 500 band pages. I'm not going to know where every little bit of info came from. Regarding the independent/underground bands from Iowa, a lot of the info is from original research and firsthand interviews with band members. Also a lot of 'lost' info is from old forum posts, websites, and user-editable sources such as Wikipedia... the latter of which where info is edited or removed on almost a daily basis. So forgive me if you're not able to cross-reference a given piece of info. I do quote band members or other sources where I see fit, but not everything can be found mirrored elsewhere online. It's literally partly one of the reasons for me creating this website, to prevent info getting lost over time as old websites become inaccessible and people die out.
